Used laptop stuck at customs in HCMC, agent wants $300+ to get it out 🥲

Has anyone dealt with this? Had a used laptop shipped from the US for personal use and now it's stuck in HCMC. Found an agency that says they can get it released and forward it to Nha Trang, but they want over $300.

Could I just go to HCMC and sort it out myself? Or does anyone know a cheaper agent? Really hoping someone here's been through this 🥲

Where exactly is it stuck? If it's customs, contact them and find out what's holding it up.

Yep, customs. They're asking for a declaration of conformity, which we don't have. Apparently they can't send it back to the US either.

I'd ask them what docs you can provide to prove it's used. Otherwise, probably worth shopping around for a cheaper agent.

From what I've heard, the issue with laptops here is the battery inside. Someone recently shared a similar story about one shipped from Germany. Customs wouldn't clear it because it was shipped without the owner travelling with it. They did send that one back to Germany tho, so kinda weird they say they can't return yours to the US 🙄
