Beach trip from HCMC, is Vung Tau worth it?

Hey guys! I'll be in HCMC for 4 days in mid-April. Any beaches close enough for a quick trip? What's the easiest way to get there, and is it actually worth going?

Vung Tau is the closest beach destination to HCMC.

Vung Tau isn't really a full-on beach resort, but it's an option if you fancy some time by the sea. Feels like half of HCMC heads there lol. Search the thread too, people have found beaches outside the main town.
