Big spiders and cockroaches in Vietnam apartments, would a high-rise help? 🫣

Hey guys! Planning to spend a few months living and travelling around Vietnam, and I'm pretty nervous about bugs in apartments. Had a rough experience in Bali sharing a villa with huge spiders 😭 How likely are you to find palm-sized spiders indoors?

Would a high floor in a modern apartment building help? Any areas or types of accommodation you'd recommend? Ants don't bother me, but big spiders, cockroaches and beetles definitely do.

For context, I saw roaches everywhere on the streets in Bangkok, but barely any in Phuket. Wondering what to expect here.

Also, just realised I've posted in the HCMC chat when I was actually looking at Nha Trang 🤦🏻‍♀️😂 Still deciding where to base ourselves, so would love thoughts on either city!

Palm-sized spiders aren't something I'd expect in an HCMC apartment. You do get big cockroaches, and they can fly in through open windows. The spiders I've seen indoors are more like 4cm across. Geckos help keep the bugs down too.

In my experience, they're less common on higher floors. I'm only on the third floor and haven't had spiders or cockroaches come in.
